Refervia works for loan officers the same way it works for real estate agents and insurance pros: your partners send you clients, you send clients to them, and both sides see where each referral stands. Loan officers use the real estate side of Refervia, set up for mortgage.
Sign up as a loan officer
- Go to refervia.com/signup.
- Under I am a, choose Loan officer / mortgage.
- Finish signing up the usual way. See Create your account.
Your workspace says Mortgage under your name, your profile shows Loan Officer, and you're listed as a Loan officer in the Partner Network.
Mortgage referrals you receive
Agents and insurance pros can send you five kinds of mortgage referral. Each has a few questions of its own, all optional, so you know what the client needs before you call:
- Purchase loan: where they want to buy, the price range, the loan type, whether they're pre-approved, whether they're a first-time buyer, and their timeline.
- Refinance: the property address, what they want (a lower rate or payment, cash out, a shorter term or dropping mortgage insurance), the home's estimated value and their timeline.
- Home equity / HELOC: the property address, what it's for, the home's estimated value and their timeline.
- Reverse mortgage: the property address, what they want, the home's estimated value and the best time to reach them.
- Investment property loan: the address or area, what they need, the number of units, the price or value and their timeline.
They land on your Referral Desk like any referral. Mark each one Contacted when you reach the client, so your partner sees it right away. See Receive a referral.
Referrals you send
Click New referral. Real estate types come first on your form, then insurance, then mortgage.
- On a Buyer lead, you can add the client's Pre-approval amount and Loan type, so the agent knows what they can buy.
- On a Homeowners, Bundle, Condo / HO6 or Flood referral, you can add the date the Insurance binder is needed by, so the insurance pro knows the closing deadline.
Before you send: the reminders for lenders
Every time you send, the Before you send pop-up shows the rules for that handoff, each with the law it comes from. For a loan officer it includes:
- RESPA: you can't give or take a fee, gift or anything of value for referring a client to a real estate agent, or for the buyers an agent sends you. The exception for referral fees covers real estate agents and brokers only.
- NMLS: when you send a mortgage referral, send it only to a loan officer licensed or registered for the client's state. Every one has an NMLS ID you can look up on NMLS Consumer Access.
- Privacy: federal privacy law lets you share a borrower's personal information outside your company with their consent or at their direction.
These are reminders, not legal advice. Refervia never takes, calculates or handles referral fees. Fees, if any, are handled the way you handle them today, through your own company. Every rule the pop-up can show is in Handoff checks.
