Report or block a member

Report a message, profile, request, document or referral to our team, and block someone so they can't reach you.

If someone on Refervia bothers you, you can report them to our team, block them, or both. A person on our team reviews every report, usually within 24 hours. A block works right away.

Report something

  1. Find what you want to report:
    • A message: in Messages, next to their message, click the flag. On a computer, point at the message to see it.
    • A conversation: in Messages, open it, click ... at the top, then Report and their name.
    • A Partner Network profile: on their card in Partner Network, click ..., then Report profile.
    • A connect request: on the Requests tab, under Asking to connect with you, click Report under their request.
    • A Trusted Partner: on their row in Trusted Partners, click Report.
    • A document: open it and click Report at the top.
    • A referral: open it and click Report at the bottom.
  2. Pick what's wrong: Harassment, threats or hate, Offensive words or photos, Spam, A scam or fraud, Fake profile or impersonation, or Something else.
  3. Add a note if you like. It can be up to 1,000 characters.
  4. To stop hearing from them too, tick Also block and their name.
  5. Click Send report. You will see "Thanks for telling us."

Block someone

  1. Click Block in any of the places above. In Messages and the Partner Network it's in the ... menu.
  2. Read what changes, then click Block and their first name.

Once you block someone:

  • They can't message you or send you a connect request, referral, document or invite.
  • Neither of you shows up in the other's Partner Network.
  • If you're Trusted Partners, that ends, and so does your partner agreement. Your conversation closes, and you can still read it.
  • Referrals you already share stay on both desks, so you can finish them.
  • We don't tell them. If they try to reach you, they only see that it can't be sent.

Unblock someone

  1. Click Settings, then scroll to Blocked members.
  2. Click Unblock next to their name, then Unblock and their first name.

They can find you in the Partner Network and send you a connect request again. You won't be Trusted Partners again unless one of you asks and the other accepts.

What happens to a report

  • A person on our team reads it, with a copy of what you reported, usually within 24 hours.
  • If it breaks our Acceptable Use Policy, we can remove what was posted, warn the member, or suspend or close their account, as our Terms of Service explain.
  • We don't tell them who reported them.
  • If you are ever in danger, call 911 first.

Words Refervia doesn't allow

Refervia stops messages, connect request notes, referral notes, documents and profile text that use slurs or explicit profanity. You will see "Refervia doesn't allow slurs or explicit language. Please reword it and try again." Change the wording and send it again. The list is short on purpose, so ordinary names and places are never stopped. If something offensive gets through, report it.

Good to know

  • Not now on a connect request is private, and they can't ask again for 180 days. Block stops them for good.
  • Removing a Trusted Partner closes your conversation too, but they can still send you a referral or ask to connect again later. Block them if you don't want that.
  • You can also report something by email to support@refervia.com.

Trouble?

  • "You blocked this member": unblock them in Settings, under Blocked members, to send them something.
  • "You can't send" something "to this member": they can't receive it from you, and there's nothing to fix on your side.
  • "This conversation is closed": you're no longer partners or teammates, or one of you blocked the other. You can still read it.
  • "You already asked to connect": you can ask again after the date shown.
